WELCOME TO POLIO SA
Our foremost objective is to help people who have suffered the affliction of Poliomyelitis. This can be done with practical help such as hydrotherapy and massage.
Polio SA is an organisation run by a group of dedicated volunteers who believe that polio survivors deserve the best quality of life.
We work with passion and professionalism to educate, advocate and achieve recognition for polio survivors.
We assist survivors. We regularly host guest speakers and experts who provide information on topics such as managing the effects of Post-Polio, updates on treatments, and other useful information.
Our website offers survivors access to information and services together with contact information for those in need of additional assistance.
About Post Polio Syndrome
Post-polio syndrome (PPS) is a condition that affects polio survivors years after recovery from an initial acute attack of the poliomyelitis virus. Most often, polio survivors start to experience gradual new weakening in muscles that were previously affected by the polio infection and also in muscles that seemingly were unaffected by the virus.
